Denver International Airport’s new hotel and transportation center, The Westin Hotel, is not only a convenient place to stay when traveling through; it is also one of the most beautiful airports in the world and an architectural masterpiece.

American Anchor had the honor and privilege of working on a small but very important feature of the project. One of the highlights of the building is a 6-story interior glass wall around the 4 levels of escalators on the South side of the building facing the newly installed rail station. Well into the construction of the hotel, one of the window cleaners bidding on what would be the final product mentioned his concern regarding access to these rather high and complicated window systems over the escalators. Sure enough, access was going to be a huge issue, and this area was almost complete.

The design team at American Anchor was recommended at that meeting and we got the call. With only a few months to design, construct, and install the custom equipment, we knew it would be tough, but we assured the client that they made the right call by hiring American Anchor for this challenging job.

The solution was a monorail system, flush with the finished ceiling that allows access out and above the void, yet is almost invisible to the public. 56 custom hangers attached to the structural concrete deck overhead support over 480’ of our exclusive extruded aluminum monorail with 36 internal trolleys for complete coverage of the lobby walls. All on budget and faster than we had predicted, so the overall project did not miss a beat.
